What other news of Localist is there?
As of 2011, Local search in Auckland has a new option that empowers people, organisations and communities can share knowledge and information using a range of online and offline media in localities. It combines traditional directories, with the power of social media.
What is new in NZ Local Directories?
One of the newest directories in NZ is Localist.co.nz After writing a post a few days ago about localist.co.nz (not to be accidentally typed in as locallist.co.nz), I thought I’d add in more background info I’ve sourced more info about localist.co.nz from its own site and those close to its launch.
Localist aims to take a fresh look at the way communities share information.
“Localist will empower localities so that people, organisations and communities can share knowledge and information using a range of online and offline media. It’s designed to take the best that traditional directories have to offer, along with the power of social media, and create something new,” Sam Knowles says.
It follows after independent research identified a gap in the local directory market. Localist.co.nz intends on maximising listing advertisers’ online and offline activity.
“Aucklanders have voiced a need for better information services at a local level. Small businesses find it hard to make sense of digital and social media, and pay too much for basic advertising services”, he says.
“Localist will help businesses succeed by giving them a better way to advertise and find customers locally”.
“It’s simply not true that current online search engines and directories have it all covered when it comes to finding truly local information. The content has to exist before it can be found,” he says.
Mr Knowles says he envisages that over time, Localist will be a first port of call for anyone wanting to find information on businesses, services and community events within their local area’.
What is more Localist is 100% NZ Kiwi owned.
